Over supply of Big Mac

900,000 MacDonalds stores in the US

Is this true, are there really 900,000 Macdonalds outlets in the US, this would effectively mean that you have one store for every 333 people. I just read this in an article on a different subject, re: Maccers getting a tad upset about the term now in one of the US dictionaries, "MacJob" dead end job with no prospects for advancement. Which is upsetting Macdonals no end. No world breaking stuff but I would suspect this to a typo.

I have heard that in the USA there are actually now more subway's than McDonalds. I'm not sure who's the more goofy mascott, Ronald or Jared.

I live about 12 blocks from work, so I walk every morning. On my way to work I pass 3 Starbucks, 2 other coffee shops, Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, and 4 convenience stores. The neighborhood I start out in is 100% residential.

I believe the stats about McDs. I know there are at least 4 within about a 2-5 min drive of my house.

It's hard to say how many places you can buy McDonald's food, because they only publish the free standing ones, which is at about 26,000 (in 119 countries). However, the ones in malls, gas stations, etc. are not in that total, which could raise the number substantially. Even at 26,000, that is a lot of McDonald's. Add that to all the other chains, and you have way too much fast food!

I am hungry for a Big Mac. I will have to get one at lunch...

When I moved to a foreign country (Japan) I had expected to have less access to American-style fast food. Surprisingly, there happened to be a location about 100 yards from my apartment (chosen by my company.)

Then, after 3 years, I moved to a different apartment. There were two McDonalds' within a five-minute walk from my apartment. They're everywhere...

The McDonald's which I had most recently been frequenting (now that I am back in the US,) burned down about two weeks ago. Now I don't know where to get my McDonald's breakfasts.

Total McDonald's restaurants, including free standing and other locations, is nearly 30,000 in 119 countries. The company also grants franchises at the rate of approximately 100 per year. God i love capitalism.
